Arthritis

Arthritis is often referred to and thought of as a single condition. But it is actually an umbrella term for more than 100 different conditions which affect the musculoskeletal system and joints where two or more bones meet.

Arthritis related symptoms include pain, stiffness, inflammation and damage to joint cartilage (the tissue that covers the ends of bones, enabling them to move smoothly against each another) and the surrounding structures. This can result in joint weakness, instability and deformities, which can interfere with basic daily tasks.

It is a very common condition in Australia and can affect people of all ages and walks of life.

However, while it can be difficult to live with arthritis there are a number of measures that can be done to manage symptoms.

Please find below information on arthritis, signs and symptoms as well as treatment options.
